*According to one of the [[Location_Specific_Dialogue#Army_of_Darkness_Set|Location Specific Dialogues which occur when the Inventory has the Army of Darkness theme enabled]], Ash and Brock are very distantly related (Ash is technically one of Brock's 14th century ancestors due to time travel).

Brock

"Death by Samson" is the leading cause of henchmen murders.

"Boys, you don't want to shoot me. You know me. You know what I'll do to you if you do." -Brock Samson

Brock Samson is a character in the Adult Swim animated series The Venture Brothers. He is one of the poker players in Poker Night 2.

Background

One-half Swedish, one-quarter Polish, one-quarter Winnebango, Brock Samson made his debut in the Adult Swim animated series The Venture Bros. as the former bodyguard to the Venture family.

His first video game appearance was in the classic flash game Rough Justice.

Brock's brute strength and endurance border on the superhuman.

Brock's Team Fortress 2 Unlock: The Samson Skewer

The Team Fortress 2 unlock for Brock Samson is his trusty Bowie knife. Once unlocked, it can be used by the Heavy.

Brock's Borderlands 2 Unlock: Nothing Ventured

The Borderlands 2 unlock for Brock Samson is his hair style. Once unlocked, it can be worn by Gunzerker.

Brock's table effect:

When all of the Venture Brothers' table items are in effect, Brock wears more casual clothing.  Room effects include a device on the stage, "mood" lighting, and HELPeR's head on the bar. The first character ejected from the game will be sent through Dr. Venture's failed teleporter from the episode "Powerless in the Face of Death". Winning the tournament will cause Brock to shout "Go Team Venture", much to his chagrin, and trigger a title card akin to those featured in The Venture Bros.

Poker Strategy

Although being the second-most consistent poker player in the game (after Sam), Brock seems to be very paranoid of bluffing, and will often try to force other players to fold if he believes that they have bad hands. He will sometimes even go all in, which will usually work unless the opponent wasn't bluffing, in which case - depending on whether or not the probabilities are with or against him - he will either win or lose, although he does seem to be somewhat cautious of playing mediocre hands. He will sometimes continue pushing the opponents even if they decide to call the bets when they're not bluffing.

Brock lies like a rug and he's fond of bluffing. If he and Ash get into a betting war, only unless you are confident about your own hand, back out and let them have it out. Odds are good that someone will be leaving the table when it's done.

Tells

Brock will scratch behind his head if he has a bad hand.

He'll slam his hand into the table and give a crazy snake-eye if he has a bad hand.

On a good hand Brock may play with his chips before tossing them in.

Brock seems to have a good hand when he cracks his knuckles.

Relationship with Other Characters

  • Claptrap: Brock finds Claptrap incredibly annoying, even going so far as to threaten his life. However, he's still willing to make conversation, despite having little patience for him.
  • Ash Williams: The two get along well, but mainly behave neutral toward one another. Like Sam, Brock displays some respect for Ash, due to his past experiences. According to GLaDOS, Ash is Brock's ancestor via time-travel.
  • Sam: Though he acknowledges Sam can be goofy, Brock has a great deal of respect for both the dog and his accomplishments, defending him when Claptrap insults Sam.
  • GLaDOS: Having previous knowledge of Aperture Science (Dr. Jonas Venture, the father of his former employer, Dr. "Rusty" Venture, worked with Cave Johnson at some point), Brock is highly distrustful of GLaDOS. He finds her presence unnerving and constantly suspects that she is setting up a death trap for the players. Though he does occasionally get a chuckle out of her dark sense of humor.
  • The Player: Initially, Brock seems to think little of the Player and talks down to him or her. However, he easily comes around to admit being impressed when the Player does well, usually once the rest of the group has been knocked out. For the same reason, he typically shows less anger when being defeated on these occasions. He also thinks that the Player's muteness is a good trait, although that could have been a sarcastic remark about Claptrap's annoying voice as well.
  • Max: Brock finds Max annoying like Claptrap, but also finds it much easier to ignore him, even when Max is physically attacking him. He also has some level of respect for the psycopathic lagomorph for everything he and Sam overcame as members of the Freelance Police.
  • Steve: Brock is understandably angry at Steve when the latter shoots a rocket at the former. The confrontation ended up with Steve being brutally beaten up by Brock.
